I just watched and listened to Richard Garriot tell of his youth experiences with California publishers. Despite the early Ultimas already selling very well, the publishing houses went out of business one by one due to heavy drug abuse among the respective management teams.
Over the years I’ve read my fair share of Richard Garriot interviews and reports, but Warren Spector interviewing him for his UT @ Austin Master Class tops them all. Excellent.
