Signs for Twitter love piling up? I guess so, if after fail whale T-Shirts, artists/makers build models inspired by Twitter failure notices :)
IMHO Twitter is far from plain dying and vanishing. Despite some journo/blogger/something celebs(?) - how would you best describe what Arrington, Winer et al. do? - predominantly covering the social networking flavored startup scene, don’t get tired of claiming.
To me it seems that those individuals with 1000+ followers who complain about Twitter’s outages, essentially mean to criticize something different. Why they don’t, I can’t fathom.
Doesn’t it occur to anybody that it might be that it is the medium, not the service itself, that does not lend itself for syncing up with a 3XL reader/fanbase. It is common sense that for instance email would not be effective for this purpose, Twitter is neither - and IMHO does not have to be to be useful or experience mainstream adoption.
It is obvious that there seems to be a need for some sort of easily consumable (currently achieved via length constraints) asynchronous messaging.
So far only Twitter, despite its many outages and the many half-hearted snap services cropping up to the rescue, delivers.
