Sins of the Gaming Industry #1: Never to release Policenauts outside of Japan
I picked the Snatcher Intro tune for our game music contest in Games und so episode #76.
Losing myself in memories of repeatedly giving in to the pull of the greatest cyberpunk adventure - don’t even think of arguing here ;) - year after year, brought back the pain of hoping for Policenauts. The latter is considered the sequel to Snatcher due to it
also being the brainchild of Hideo Kojima and utilizing a similar game mechanic. Unfortunately the title has never seen a release outside of Japan. A Sega Saturn version was supposed to be translated into English and see a North America release at least, but the plans for that somehow got lost in the Twisted Nether.
A translation project has been going on for years, but so far to no avail with respect to a playable game.
Konami … Kojima … why?!?
Btw, I can’t find any purchasable soundtrack CDs for either Snatcher or Policenauts. If you know of any store that carries them, I’d appreciate a note in the comments or via twitter.
