Buddies asking for Xmas Ideas #1: Books on TDD @kyriii
A buddy asked me for a couple of quick recommendations for some easy vacation reading on unit testing and TDD.
IMHO there is an incredible amount of bad books on the topic floating around. It’s seems so as if every second B-class author feels tempted to put together a book on the topic - probably due to the matter and the interfaces as made popular by JUnit being very approachable.
My list on this topic is fairly short.
As Java developer, the only book you’d really need to get started now is Lasse Koskela’s Test Driven: Practical TDD and Acceptance TDD for Java Developers (DE
, US
). This book will most likely serve you for a while, as it covers quite some ground.
For sentimental reasons I’d recommend laying hands on Kent Beck’s Test Driven Development. By Example (DE
, US
).
That’s about it. By the way, if you have similar recommendations to make, please feel free to drop me a note or leave one in the comments.
